[3A- Inquiry Month] - Plastic Planet- Protect the World

Dear Parents,

Hope this email finds you well!

As you may already know this week was the start of the Inquiry Months. In Grade 3A, we are focusing on Environmental issues, particularly at “Plastic Planet- Protect the World”. For the past three days, we have discussed of what we already know about the man-made environmental issues, and the garbage that goes into water ( rivers, lakes, sea, oceans, etc ) every day. We have also discussed how people do impact on the environment, both positively and negatively. Grade 3 students came up with their own questions about environmental issues and currently conducting independent research. They will come home with their research paper and we kindly ask parents to support them and help to find answers to their questions if needed. They may want to use the internet at home, and the priority language for research is English. However, we understand that the students may find it a bit challenging so they can formulate their questions in Japanese and write their answers in Japanese as well. The main goal is if the students are able to conduct the research and find the right answer to their questions. Hope they will have a lifelong learning experience.

お世話になっております。

ご存知のように、今週から探究型学習が始まりました。３Aでは、環境問題をテーマに「プラスチック・アースーーー地球を守ろう」（プラスチックと環境問題）をメインに学習を進める予定です。この３日間で、人間が原因となっている環境問題で生徒自身がすでに知っていることを中心に話し合ってきました。その中で、水の中（川、湖、海など）のごみ問題についての話を主題にいい面と悪い面についてディスカッションしました。そして、それぞれが自分で疑問点を見つけ、各々が課題を設定しました。家に課題を書いたプリントを持ち帰り、もし必要であればお家の方に質問に答えていただくなどのサポートをお願いするかもしれません。インターネットで自分で調べてみたい児童もいるかと思います。メインは英語での活動ですが、難しいテーマですので、日本語で検索し、日本語で調べた内容を記入してもかまいません。現在の主な目的は適切な課題を見つけ、その課題に適した答えを見つけることにあります。この経験が生涯にわたる学習への取り組みの一助となれば幸いです。
