[3B Math] Making thinking visible

Today in math class we focused on increasing understanding over speed in solving a complex math problem. We did this by concentrating on a deeper understanding of word problems and using open-ended questions.
After listening to the scenario, we spoke with our shoulder partner. This helped us to contextualise the problem.

Next, we read the scenario again. Reading as a class helped less confident learners participate. Our guiding question was, 'what are the quantities/numbers in this word problem?'

Next, we brainstormed mathematical questions that we could ask.

Thank you 3b for sharing your thinking, working collaboratively and supporting your classmates.
